Reduced irritation
Lipella’s empty liposomes are composed of highly biocompatible phospholipids already known to be safe in the form of oral consumption as well as intravenous infusion. The empty liposomes carry no active agents, however they have been shown to relieve symptoms of chemical induced irritation and exhibit protective effects as shown in the following figure.

The above figure illustrates the protective effect of Lipella’s liposome on tissue irritation. Photographs of compromised rat organ tissue after harvest are shown. Left is a normal tissue. Center is a compromised tissue treated with capsaicin, but irritated. Right is a compromised tissue, treated with a liposomal formulation of capsaicin, exhibiting considerably less irritation.
