Roger Dmochowski, MD
Dr. Roger R. Dmochowski is Professor at the Department of Urology at
Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He is also Clinical
Assistant Professor in Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of
the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Dmochowski has published
more than 85 articles and book chapters, 200 abstracts, and has given
over 100 presentations at various national and international meetings.
He has been featured in videotapes and CD-ROMS on managing urinary
incontinence. Dr. Dmochowski is on the editorial board for the World
Journal of Urology, Neurourology and Urodynamics, International Journal
of Urogynecology, and the AUA Office of Education CD-ROM Series. He is
a reviewer for the Journal of Urology, and Urology. He is a Fellow of
the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American
Urological Association and International Continence Society. Dr.
Dmochowski has been granted the Zimskind Award from the Urodynamics
Society for his accomplishment in clinical treatment for incontinence.
His current research interests are outcomes of incontinence therapies
with a particular emphasis on quality of life issues. He also is active
in bio materials evaluation.
Hann-Chorng Kuo, MD
Dr. Kuo is the Chairman and Professor of Urology in the Department of
Urology, School of Medicine of Tzu Chi University in Hualien, Taiwan.
Dr. Kuo is the President of Taiwanese Continence Society. He graduated
from National Taiwan University, and received resident training in
National Taiwan University Hospital. Dr. Kuo has published extensively
on his clinical trials involving intravesical heparin and resin
iferatoxin for IC and OAB. He has also been involved in many global
clinical trials of OAB and has 20 grants from the National Science
Council and Department of Health in Taiwan. Dr. Kuo is a world leader
in the application of botulinum toxin to the treatment of IC, OAB and
enlarged prostate. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed papers
and written more than 10 books. Dr. Kuo is the Editor-in-Chief of Tzu
Chi Medical Journal and Incontinence & Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, an
official journal of the Taiwanese Continence Society and Taiwan
Urogynecological Association. He is a reviewer of the Journal of
Urology, Urology, European Urology and Neurourology & Urodynamics.
Robert D. Mayer, MD
Dr. Mayer is Associate Professor of Urology and Director of Quality
Assurance in the Department of Urology at the University of Rochester
School of Medicine in Rochester, New York. Dr. Mayer joined the urology
faculty there in 1987 after completing his residency in urology at the
University of Illinois at Chicago and a research fellowship in
nephrotoxicity at the University of Rochester. Dr Mayer and his
patients participated in the ICCRN studies of pentosan polysulfate
(Elmiron) and hydroxyzine (Atarax) and of bacille Calmette-Guérin
(BCG). Most recently, he studied IC in teens and young women, and a
potential alternativetest for bladder “leakiness.”
Robert Moldwin, MD
Dr. Moldwin is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the Albert Einstein
College of Medicine, and is Director of The Interstitial Cystitis
Center at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJMC) in New Hyde Park,
NY. After clinical training at the University of Chicago and urological
training at LIJMC, he received a Valentine's Fellowship and did a
fellowship in IC research at Thomas Jefferson Medical College. He
returned to New York to establish The Interstitial Cystitis Center at
LIJMC. Dr.Moldwin is actively involved in IC research and is a member
of the ICA's Medical 23 Advisory Board. He was named one of "The Best
Doctors in New York" by NewYork Magazine in its June 8, 1998 issue.

Tomohiro Ueda, MD, PhD
Dr. Ueda is the Chief Urologist at the Department of Urology in Kyoto
City Hospital, and Clinical Professor, Kyoto University Hospital,
Kyoto, Japan. Dr. Ueda did his residency in Urology at Kyoto
University, Kyoto, Japan where he also received his PhD. He has
extensive clinical experience in urinary incontinence and IC. Since
1997, Dr. Ueda has been studying pathophysiological IC condition using
a novel oral agents including IPD-1151T (Suplatast tosilate) in global
clinical trials. Dr. Ueda has also coordinated the clinical IC projects
performed in Japan. Dr. Ueda has served as the President in the first
meeting of International Consultation on Interstitial Cystitis, Japan
(ICICJ) in 2003 with 27 representatives from all five continents and
over 14 countries, and has provided the first step for establishing the
internationally approved diagnostic criteria of IC. Dr. Ueda has also
contributed to organizing the first IC patient group, Tomo-no-ki, in
Japan and founded NPO: Comfortable Urology Network (CUN) in 2005. Dr.
Ueda has organized the 2nd ICICJ in Kyoto in March 2007 and remains
involved in world research groups such as International Consultation on
Incontinence, NIH symposiums and AUA/SUFU.
Alan Wein, MD
Dr. Wein's clinical expertise and interests are primarily in the fields
of urologic cancer and voiding function and dysfunction. He was one of
the founding members of the Society of Urologic Oncology and was
elected to membership in the other two groups that are concerned with
evaluating and managing cancer: The American Society of Clinical
Oncology and the Society of Surgical Oncology. He has particular
interest and expertise in the area of prostate cancer and serves as a
member of the International Consultation on Prostate Cancer. Dr. Wein's
expertise in the areas of voiding function and dysfunction is widely
acknowledged, particularly in the areas of urinary incontinence,
neurogenic dysfunction, overactive bladder, interstitial cystitis, and
dysfunction secondary to prostate enlargement. He serves on the
International Consultation on Urinary Incontinence (where he is
co-chair) and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. He has been on the faculty
of, and directed numerous seminars in these areas. His basic research
has been in the area of the physiology and pharmacology of the lower
urinary tract, with many important discoveries coming out of his
laboratory, beginning in 1970 with progress continuing until the
present.
